The foolscap map was created in the late 1500's. The author is unknown and is listed in the inscriptions as Epichtonnis which actually means "Everyman". I imagine this kind of irreverent and sacriligious description of the world would be met with some heavy repercussions from both the church and the state. I have tried to translate the inscriptions from latin. Aren't they beautiful! If you are interested you can google it and find more information. I would love to have more complete translations. I have not been able to translate the lines along the bottom of the map. But I ask you in all sincerity, "Who does not have donkey's ears?"

I guess I am looking for someplace that might be interactive and instigate a discussion of some sort.
